GHA’s completed English National Ballet has been named winner at the international American Institute of Architects (AIA) UK Design awards 2020.
The transformational project at London City Island scooped the Professional – Medium Project category which was up against entries from a diverse range of scales and sectors.
Judges praised the building’s hard-working materials and achieving such a wide-ranging brief under a tight budget.
English National Ballet, already winner of the Architects’ Journal Building of the Year, is also a finalist in the RIBA Awards London category, offers the School significantly expanded accommodation including eight new rehearsal spaces. The design of the building also opens up the activities of ENB to the public through the incorporation of large windows onto public spaces.
