The Building Design Architect of the Year awards shortlist has recently been announced and GHA has been named a finalist in the Public Building Architect category.
Our completed English National Ballet, along with projects at Nene Park and Old River Lane have been praised in the shortlisting.
The award is open to architects working on any project of public function, including theatres, galleries, libraries, visitor centres, civic and religious buildings. Focus is also on all-round design excellence and fitness for purpose over a body of work.
GHA has designed a number of award-winning public, civic and cultural buildings throughout the years.
English National Ballet, already a finalist in the Architects Journal Building of the Year and the RIBA Awards London category, offers the School eight new rehearsal spaces, one of which has full stage rigging facilities which can be used as a performance space in its own right.
With its translucent façade and lightweight structure, the building opens up the activities of ENB to the public through the incorporation of large windows onto public spaces and through external performance spaces.
The winners of the Architect of the Year Awards will be announced in October.
