Drone images capture Selly Oak student housing progress
August 3, 2018
New drone images show progress on GHA’s £24m student housing scheme in Selly Oak for Land Securities. Now at level seven of 17, construction is progressing at one floor per week which includes external walls (including windows), cross walls, stairs and core. FP McCann’s façade panels include glazing by Glass Solutions and prefabrication extends further to the bathrooms through the use of pods produced by Walker Modular.
Dav Bansal, Director at Glenn Howells Architects said:
“The level of prefabrication allows for time savings, less on-site labour, as well as a cleaner and safer site. There’s also a much higher guarantee of quality compared to traditional forms of construction. The images also highlight the tight constraints of the site with the Bristol Road, canal, overhead powerlines and adjacent buildings/sites very close by.”
The project is due for completion in June 2019.
Photos are by RLH Construction who are installing the prefabricated panels.
